Luxemburg is a DOLPHINARIUM-FREE COUNTRY!
We are very PROUD of it!"
"Luxembourg is one of 12 EU Member States without captive dolphins.
In our overview, Luxembourg is the second country highlighted without captivity, making the score 2:2.
Interestingly, the small inland nation joined the International Whaling Commission (IWC) in 2005 and since then has taken a strong position in favour of whale conservation. Similar to other countries lacking a coastline, such as Austria and Hungary, Luxembourg argues whales and dolphins do not belong to any country and should be fully protected as an international interest. WDCS believes in this sentiment, nor are they property of any amusement park, either.
Luxembourg does have representation at the Scientific Committee of the IWC, who is also engaged in field research on various whale and dolphin species in the Straits of Gibraltar."
